Job Description

This position is responsible for bringing category strategy to life through fixture installations and shelf-level accessory selection. This role will be the go-to expert on fixture project installations and coordinate work across merchants, merchandising presentation, merchandising execution, macro space analytics and retail operations. This role’s project coordination will serve as a collaboration point with the store design and construction teams who are responsible for the fixture plans, equipment price quotes, coordination with contractors for electrical installation and more. These two collaborative workstreams will ensure operationally excellent execution of projects in store. This role will be the point for shelf-level accessory selection in partnership with merchants, retail operations and procurement. This collaboration will result in the selection of shelf and shelf-level accessories focused on implementation in new stores and remodel projects.

"This role is based in Austin, TX, with an expectation of being in the Store Support office five days a week."

  • Responsibilities:
    • Establishes and maintains project plans, communication, budget considerations and action steps for fixture rollouts that impact the sales floor.
    • Develops and executes escalation and mitigation plans in partnership with stakeholders.
    • Accountable for ensuring projects stay on timeline and creates alternate plans as circumstances impact the timeline.
    • Applies and builds expertise in fixture implementation considerations and impacts across stakeholder teams. Identifies when impacts present risk or leadership misalignment and problem solves with stakeholders or escalates when appropriate.
    • Serves as expert for merchant leaders during operational budget submissions to provide resources and considerations for scope and scale of fixture installation projects.
    • Aligns with Store Design and Construction on fixture project implementation approaches such as bundling multiple projects for execution at the same time in each store and drives necessary alignment across stakeholder groups to gather strategy, constraint and planning information.
    • Owns coordination of communication to the operations team leaders and store team members using established store communication vehicles.
    • Aligns fixture installation project financial measurement needs and resources with stakeholder groups.
    • Reviews shelf and shelf-level equipment proposals for operational efficiencies in partnership with stakeholder teams.
    • Completes annual review of shelf and shelf-level equipment kits in partnership with merchants and retail operations. Details updates in coordination with procurement.
    • Tracks vendor performance.
    • Provides project close-out feedback and ensures identification, communication, and future application of lessons learned and best practices.

Professional Knowledge:

  • Intermediate to advanced capabilities to project manage including to plan, estimate, organize, and monitor projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of store fixture install and shelf-level implications to retail operations to serve appropriate planning.
  • Intermediate to advanced communication skills to convey issues and problem solving in compelling and clear ways.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Ability to physically perform general office requirements, as well as those required on construction site.
  • Travel - including overnight trips - may be required, throughout WFM store footprint

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree and 4-6 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent education and relevant experience.
