Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and apply best practices for identifying, mitigating, and remediating human rights impacts in our supply chains
- Collaborate with business partners on the development and implementation of social responsibility strategies across all our supply chains
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with our standards at onboarding, maintenance and adverse events
- Collaborate with buyers and product category managers to integrate responsible sourcing practices into procurement decisions
- Experience in process improvement, change management and cost optimization
- Experienced in managing relationships with third party responsible sourcing service providers.
- Manage and mitigate supply chain risks directly with suppliers related to social issues
- Provide expertise to product Merchandizing teams through trainings and consultation
- Manage supplier certifications and data collection for reporting and communication purposes
- Participate in drafting public-facing human rights disclosures for Whole Foods Market's website and other PR activities.
- Analyze data and report on key performance indicators and progress towards responsible sourcing goals
- Engage with multiple stakeholders to achieve systemic change and build strategic partnerships
- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in responsible sourcing
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, International Procurement, or related field
- Desirable to have credentials such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional), SA 8000, SEDEX, or Amfori-BRCI
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in responsible sourcing, preferably in the international food retail sector
- Strong knowledge of responsible sourcing in agriculture, fair trade practices, and ethical sourcing principles
- Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in supply chain management software and data analysis tools
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Passion for human rights, sustainability, and ethical sourcing
- Ability to articulate complex topics clearly at all organizational levels
- Language skills desirable, particularly Spanish
Additional Requirements:
- Understanding of WFM business, retail food industry, and key supplier partners
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 25% of the time)
