Team Leader, Merchandising Presentation
Job Description
This role leads a team of Merchandising Presentation Planners to deliver exceptional planograms that demonstrate operational excellence at scale across the store base. This role will execute the category strategy by ensuring placement of product aligns with customer behavior, operational standards and strong stakeholder collaboration. Responsible for overseeing the end-to-end planogram build process. This role will lead the strategy for and the proliferation of Core POGs into both automated planogram production and when applicable, a manual build process.
This position will be based out of our Austin, Texas office.
Responsibilities
Build, iterate and implement strategy, roadmap and tactics for planogram accountabilities.
Direct and manage planogram creation and maintenance to meet business needs
Align with team leaders on balancing resource allocation to meet business needs.
Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members (and contractors) and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
Hire, onboard and retain / depart talent based on high standards for building team strengths and skills.
Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project, including, but not limited to Merchandising, Data Operations, Analytics and Retail Operations.
Drive influential and productive conversations with merchandising leadership to proactively plan, and build consensus on planogram strategy and problem solve.
In cross functional conversations, serve as the subject matter expert on planogram team capabilities and processes, participate in the discussion of business requirements, act as a leader of change management and assist the Merchandising teams’ training and development.
Continuously looks for ways to improve processes. efficiency and quality - leveraging the skills and expertise of internal department resources and cross-functional partner teams.
Influence stakeholders to ensure inputs / dependencies to successful planogram completion are delivered as agreed.
Proactively manage changes in scope, identify potential risks to data accuracy or project completion, and devise contingency plans.
Proactively manage mitigation of errors in any POG accuracy
Make project-related decisions based on a firm understanding of the business reason(s) objective(s) of the project.
Manage and achieve budget goals set for projects, when appropriate.
Act as support and point person for partners and stakeholders, when appropriate.
Close projects by gathering feedback, documenting lessons learned/best practices and applying those best practices to subsequent projects.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
4-year degree or equivalent experience and at least 10 years of Space Planning, Retail Ops, Merchandising or other applicable retail experience
Demonstrated application of Whole Foods leadership principles
Experience with implementation of retail merchandising basics (ie, category management), and merchandising organizational structures and processes
Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines
Ability to develop effective working relationships with all levels of merchandising team and leadership
Team oriented with excellent time management and organization skills
Customer service oriented with ability to maintain positive attitude in all situations
5 years minimum experience with direct reports and preferred 2 years’ experience with skip level reports
Familiarity with Space Planning software functionality and capabilities such as JDA, Apollo or Spaceman
Proficient skill level in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Overnight travel approximately 15% of time
